Multi system atrophy (MSA)
Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP)
These complex conditions are progressive and can initially be thought to be Parkinson’s Disease because they share some similarities in early symptoms. Differential diagnosis is achieved by your neurology team through thorough history taking and ruling out significant changes to dopamine levels in the basal ganglia. You may find that your symptoms worsen fairly rapidly. A neuro-physiotherapist will understand your condition and be able to;
- assess and advise on managing falls risk
- advise on how to maximise safety when moving around the home, ensuring that transfers from chairs and the bed are as safe as possible.
- an experienced neuro-physiotherapist will also liaise with others who care for you to ensure excellent continuity of care. This may include close liaison with your occupational therapist, speech therapist or care team.

Please get in touch if you have any questions about how neuro-physiotherapy might support you or your family member
